ASC X12 Testimony at National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS), July 2010

As an active participant in the complex environment of setting public/private standards, ASC X12 provided testimony at the July 2010 NCVHS Subcommittee on Standards Administrative Simplification hearings.

The hearings focused on the Administrative Simplification aspects under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). ASC X12 reported that 5010 stands ready to support use of the National Health Plan Identifier.

ASC X12 also testified that it is critical that any named Operating Rules be compliant with 5010. They must follow the existing DSMO/NCVHS/HHS processes, be developed by an ANSI accredited organization, and have effective dates coincide with the established version compliance dates mandated under HIPAA.
