This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Equipment Inspection Report Transaction Set for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This standard can be used by a transportation carrier to provide equipment owners with the results of an equipment inspection activity. This transaction set can be used to communicate whether or not the equipment is in a damaged state. If damage has been identified, it can also be used to convey details regarding the damage. It is not used to convey information relevant to damage claims or repair activities.
