Falls Church, VA, July 7, 2005 - The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA), a leader in promoting the development of cross-industry electronic data exchange standards, elected new leadership and three new members to its Board of Directors.
Elected as the new chairman of the board, Mark SB Tiggas is a Senior Vice President at Wells Fargo Bank. Since joining the company eight years ago, he serves as Wells Fargo & Company's representative to several industry initiatives such as BITS, Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) and the Interactive Financial eXchange (IFX) Forum. Mr. Tiggas has 10 years of payments and electronic commerce experience, more than 20 years experience in distributed computing and over 15 years of Internet development.
At its Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. on June 23, the DISA Board of Directors thanked outgoing chairman of the board David Hutchings, Senior Director, Business to Business for Kraft Foods Global, Inc. After serving two years in this position, Mr. Hutchings demonstrated outstanding leadership and insight in handling many diverse and challenging issues facing the organization.
David Barkley, elected as the boardís vice chairman, serves as Director of eCommerce Relations in Freddie Mac's Mortgage Operations & Technology Division. Mr. Barkley is active in the standardization of electronic data transactions and in exploring emerging technologies for the real estate finance industry. He chairs the Governance Committee of the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO). He is also Past Chair of the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12, chartered in 1979 by the American National Standards Institute to develop uniform data standards and specifications for cross-industry electronic exchange of business transactions.
Byron Warren was elected as treasurer of the board and serves as the Marketing & Sales Director for SysCom Strategies, Inc. Mr. Warren currently serves as the X12 Finance Subcommittee Chair and is a member of the ASC X12 Steering Committee and Executive Committee. He is the co-author of the X12 248 transaction set, Account Assignment/Inquiry and Service/Status. Mr. Warren is a recognized speaker on e-business solutions for the financial sector. Mr. Warren serves as Board of Director/Treasurer, Electronic Commerce Institute, Denialís Business College, Denver University. He has served on the Board of Directors to the Austin Federal Credit Union for the past 20 years and is the elected Treasurer by the Board.
Steve Bass, re-elected as the board's secretary, is President and CEO of Washington Publishing Company. A seasoned EDI standards advocate, Mr. Bass serves the user community by creating sound documentation that helps organizations develop, maintain and implement EDI standards. He is also an avid supporter and contributor to the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12, especially X12 Insurance Subcommittee.
