Falls Church, Va., September 20, 2006 - The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA), a not-for-profit organization that supports the development of cross-industry e-business exchange standards, announced today the recipient of its 2006 Edward A. Guilbert E-Commerce Professional Award. This year's recipient is Dan Petrosky, of EDI Partners.
Since 1991, the Edward A. Guilbert Award honors a select group of professionals who have made significant and enduring contributions to the e-commerce community. The award is named after Edward A. Guilbert who served as a logistics officer during the Berlin Airlift of 1948 and later created the first system to exchange data electronically.
Mr. Petrosky is a founding member of EDI Partners, Ltd. He specializes in EDI implementation and education strategy. He has supported EDI seminars offered by major universities, plus he has developed custom EDI education programs for several Fortune 50 companies. He has conducted over 300 EDI seminars in 15 different countries, delivered numerous presentations on a variety of EDI topics and consulted with organizations in North America, the Far East, Australia, and Europe. A renowned thought-leader on EDI, Mr. Petrosky has written many articles on EDI and is frequently quoted on the topic of international trade and commerce.
Mr. Petrosky’s tenure includes numerous accomplishments in the international arena. He contributed to the development of the international EDI strategy for British Telecom; he provided EDI business consulting to Korea Trade Network (KTNet), and he consulted with the government of Malaysia on the implementation of EDI to support customs services.
Prior to his foray into the EDI world, Mr. Petrosky spent 11 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, including 12 months in Vietnam. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserve, where he taught strategy for the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He has degrees from Xavier University, The University of Texas and the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
