ASC X12 Educates Healthcare Industry with 005010 Webinar Series
Registration Open for Last Three Webinars Between Aug. 14-21, 2008
Falls Church, Va, August 13, 2008, – A series of educational webinars presented by the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 have been well-received by participants preparing to respond to the federal government’s anticipated Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) to modify mandated Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) transactions.
Three of the six-part series have been completed. The webinars, organized by X12’s Insurance subcommittee’s HIPAA Implementation Coordination work group, are part of an outreach campaign designed to address changes resulting from the NPRM and detail how the implementation of X12 version 005010 transactions, proposed for adoption under HIPAA, address industry-requested requirements.
Feedback from the series’ participants has been positive, and includes comments such as: “This has been a comprehensive overview of critical industry changes,” “I’ve found the key to keeping current with HIPAA modifications,” and “Fantastic resources to reference in the coming months.”

The series also details the business justification for recommended solutions included in version 005010. The next webinar, presented Thursday, August 14 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EDT will address 837, Institutional, Professional and Dental: Health Care Claims and Encounters. Future seminars will address 276/277, Health Care Claims Status, and 835, Health Care Claim Payments.
