Falls Church, VA, August 17, 2009 – The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA), Secretariat to the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12, and the ASC X12 Publisher, Washington Publishing Company (WPC), announced a partnership with the American Hospital Association (AHA) to extend discounts to AHA members who need ASC X12 005010 Technical Reports, Type 3 (TR3s) Implementation Guides mandated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
The ASC X12 005010 standard and TR3 Implementation Guides are useful resources to improve and streamline hospital billing processes. The Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’) final rule in the Federal Register, Volume 74, Number 11, “Rules and Regulations” requires health care organizations to be compliant with the HIPAA 005010 standard transactions by January 1, 2012.
"Since the release of the first Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 HIPAA-mandated transactions, X12’s hospital members have been working with X12’s insurance company members to reduce administrative expenses by narrowing the differences between implementations,” said Dan Kazzaz, Chair, ASC X12. “By working with the American Hospital Association (AHA), X12 can help provide the hospitals with information they need to adopt X12’s version 5010 of the claims and other billing-related transactions. The development of future messages will streamline the hospital billing processes."
“AHA members can obtain the 005010 Implementation Guides discounts at http://store.x12.org/aha_discounts.htm, and the National Uniform Billing Committee website at http://www.nubc.org/become.html. There is an easy online membership verification process developed by WPC and AHA, enabling AHA members to download the Implementation Guides at the end,” said Jerry Connors, President, DISA.
