Falls Church, VA – June 20, 2011 – The Accredited Standards Committee X12 (ASC X12) reports a high level of member participation through both virtual and face-to-face components for its most recent Standing meeting. The face-to-face component, including meetings for ASC X12C, ASC X12M and ASC X12N, was conducted in Dallas, Texas from June 5 through June 9.

ASC X12 Chair Cathy Sheppard reports that membership and publication sales continue to be strong and that the hybrid Standing meeting was successful as those participating via phone and/or web conferences conducted effective meetings. “ASC X12 continues to focus on the development and maintenance of Standards and derivative products that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of electronic data transmissions,” says Sheppard. “Expanding our library of Standards and derivative tools to meet the needs of the industries we support further illustrates that ASC X12 remains responsive to the needs of implementers.”

ASC X12 Subcommittees convening during this Standing Meeting continued their development activities, focusing on specific industry needs.

Highlights of the meeting include:

ASC X12C, the Communications/Control Subcommittee, ASC X12F, the Finance Subcommittee, ASC X12I, the Transportation Subcommittee and ASC X12J, the Technical Assessment Subcommittee, all conducted their normal activities, including development and/or maintenance of ASC X12 Standards, Code Sets, Technical Reports and Requests for Information (RFIs) and revisions to ASC X12 policies and procedures.

ASC X12M, the Supply Chain Subcommittee, focused on two primary initiatives.
