Falls Church, Va., August 12, 2004 – The Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA) is pleased to announce Robert D. Poiesz as its new Director of X12 Information Resources. Mr. Poiesz brings a wealth of experience in electronic commerce as well as extensive, hands-on experience in health care information processing, HIPAA transactions and health care practice management systems from both a provider and payer perspectives.

In this new position, Mr. Poiesz is responsible for managing and supporting the product and tool demands required by the Health Care Task Group (TG2) within the Insurance Subcommittee (X12N) of ASC X12. These tools are attributed to the health care industry’s effort to implement the HIPAA-mandated transactions. This position is also charged with managing programs evolving from ASC X12 Subcommittees beyond insurance.

“Bob brings more than 25 years of experience on EDI and healthcare-related issues to ASC X12,” said Jerry Connors, President and CEO of the Data Interchange Standards Association. “With Bob’s broad experience in electronic commerce, he will enhance DISA’s support for ASC X12 in a very significant way.”

Prior to joining the DISA team, Mr. Poiesz served as Senior Systems Consultant with Highmark Inc. in Camp Hill, PA since 1990. In that position, he provided EDI expertise to all levels of staff and management for Health Care EDI, general EDI, provider network initiatives and strategic planning. Mr. Poiesz has served ten years as a co-chair of the Health Care Claim Payments Work Group within the ASC X12 Insurance Subcommittee and two years as co-chair of the Electronic Data Interchange 835 Implementation Guide Work Group.
