Need to identify the unit of measure "Retinol Activity Equivalents" used with Vitamin A and Beta Carotene. Health Canada's food labeling regulation indicates manufacturers are to declare the correct Unit Of Measure for the nutritional information displayed on the product package. Health Canada Food and Drug Regulation: Link: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/c.r.c.,_c._870/page-142.html D.01.003 (1) For the purposes of these Regulations, the vitamin content of a food, other than a formulated liquid diet, a human milk substitute or a food represented as containing a human milk substitute, shall be determined o (a) in the case of vitamin A, in terms of the content of retinol and its derivatives and beta-carotene, calculated on the basis of micrograms of retinol activity equivalents (RAE) and expressed in micrograms on the basis of the following relationships: X (i) 1 RAE = 1 microgram of retinol, and X (ii) 1 RAE = 12 micrograms of beta-carotene;
